Let's share lots of poems
Let's critique rather heavily and honestly but not meanly
I want to be inspired to do lots of writing
Silence cell phones
Be respectful of others, thoughts, opinions, feelings, etc.
Feel free to ask questions if a line does not make sense
Listen with appreciation
No cigarettes
Would love to know what they "hear" in it, what the poem means to the reader as the beginning point of their/our constructive criticism
No heavy scents or perfumes
Cell phones on vibrate or meeting, unless circumstances dictate otherwise
No liquids or sticky things near the machines
No ad-hominem attacks
Balanced criticism, positive comments first, then crits
Specific crits, instead of "I like it/I don't like it"--locate the comment, "what specifically do you like/not like?"
Always okay to just duck out and follow the poem.
